The Bono East Regional Police Command has restored order in Kwame Danso, Sene West District, following violent attacks on the District Court and Police Headquarters on Wednesday, December 10.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when approximately 100 angry youths stormed the court during ongoing proceedings. The group assaulted court officials, vandalized furniture and equipment, and forcibly freed two accused persons on trial. The complainant in the case was also attacked.
The mob then targeted the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters, assaulting two officers and causing additional damage.
A reinforcement team from the Atebubu Division, supported by the Formed Police Units, was deployed to restore calm in the area.
Following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, the Kwame Danso Court and Police Station have been temporarily closed, with personnel reassigned to other parts of the region for safety.
The police command confirmed that they are actively pursuing all individuals involved and assured the public that the perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
