Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim, has reiterated that every Ghanaian has the unrestricted right to express their constitutional freedoms after receiving a petition calling for the dismissal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
The petition was submitted during a public march known as “Agro Ne Fom”, organised by concerned citizens who allege that the Special Prosecutor has fallen short in executing his mandate.
Apostle Abraham Larbi Lincoln, the lead organiser, described the protest as an effort to draw attention to what they believe is persistent inefficiency within the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Accepting the petition on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, Shamima Muslim highlighted the government’s commitment to protecting civil liberties, including protest and free expression.
“It is encouraging to see citizens exercise their constitutional right to speak out. His Excellency has assured people of all political backgrounds that he believes in citizens’ rights. No Ghanaian should ever feel afraid to express themselves. Your demonstration is an activation of our living constitution,” she stated.
