Richard Ellimah Elected PIAC Chair

New Leadership Poised to Boost Transparency and Civil Society Oversight in Petroleum Revenue Management

The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has elected Richard Ellimah, a Natural Resource Governance Analyst and Community Activist, as its new Chair for the 2025–2026 term.

Ellimah, who represents Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), was chosen on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, taking over from Constantine K. M. Kudzedzi.

Following his election, Mr. Ellimah thanked members for their confidence and pledged to build on the strong foundation laid by his predecessors. He reaffirmed his commitment to PIAC’s mandate of ensuring transparency and accountability in the management and utilization of Ghana’s petroleum revenues.

With nearly 20 years of experience in natural resource governance and civil society engagement, Ellimah brings deep expertise to the role.

At the same meeting, Edward Yaw Afriyie, a Biomedical Scientist representing the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), was elected Vice Chairperson for a one-year term, succeeding Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII.

Prior to the elections, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Ministry of Finance’s Coordinating Director, Technical, Samuel Arkhurst, swore in five new PIAC members, including:

  • Christopher Opoku Nyarko – Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI)

  • Sena Dake – Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG)

  • Zamboanga Rufai Saminu – Ghana Journalists Association (GJA)

  • Veronica Adigbo – Ghana Bar Association (GBA)

  • Nana Soglo Alloh IV – National House of Chiefs

The appointments and elections signal PIAC’s renewed commitment to strengthened governance, stakeholder engagement, and accountability in Ghana’s petroleum sector.
