Two Journalists Injured as EPA Convoy Involved in Accident Near Obuasi
An anti-galamsey operation by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) turned tragic after a violent confrontation with miners led to a convoy accident, injuring journalists on board.

A joint team from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and members of the media has been involved in a serious road accident near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region during an anti-illegal mining (galamsey) operation.
The operation, aimed at clamping down on illegal mining activities in the Dadwene area, reportedly took a chaotic turn when the team came under attack from a group of miners. Under pressure, the EPA officials and journalists were forced to retreat from the scene.
Tragedy struck moments later when one of the vehicles in the EPA convoy was involved in an accident at Afari, leaving several people injured. Two journalists are reported to be in critical condition.
Among those involved was Ibrahim Abubakar, the Ashanti Regional Correspondent for Media General, who escaped without major injuries. A reporter from Adom News was also part of the team caught in the incident.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the condition of the victims or the cause of the crash.
