The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has accused the Attorney General and elements of the Judiciary of acting in a biased manner that erodes public trust in Ghana’s justice system.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Kodua Frimpong criticized what he described as the government’s “shameful” disregard for the rule of law. He alleged that Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has been conducting media trials, effectively declaring political opponents guilty before the courts have weighed in.
“Under the law, anyone accused of a crime must be arraigned in court and presumed innocent until proven guilty. Yet, the Attorney General bypasses the courts and goes straight to the media to declare guilt,” he said.
Kodua Frimpong highlighted the case of Kwesi Botchway Jnr., who was reportedly threatened with contempt by a sitting judge for public comments on a case, while similar statements by the Attorney General have gone unchallenged.
“We have a young man, Kwesi Botchway Jnr., facing threats of contempt, yet Dr. Dominic Ayine makes prejudicial comments without any judicial response. Truly, the ‘Animal Farm’ is in operation under the John Dramani Mahama administration,” he added.
