Gov’t to Complete 32 Major Road Projects in Two Years – Agbodza
Roads Minister outlines strict timelines, penalty clauses, and 24/7 work schedules to ensure timely delivery of 32 key road and bridge projects nationwide.

- All selected contractors are expected to finish construction within two years under strict timelines
- Contracts include clauses for termination after three months of unjustified delay; poor supervision will also be penalized
- Contractors must work around
Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has announced that the government is embarking on an ambitious plan to complete 32 major road and bridge projects nationwide within a strict two-year timeline.
Contractors are expected to work continuously under tight supervision, with severe penalties for delays and poor performance.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Mr. Agbodza said commencement certificates have been secured for all projects, and the procurement process is currently underway to engage contractors for immediate mobilisation.
“These contracts are for 24 months, from start to finish,” the Minister explained. “We are ensuring this time that contracts include firm clauses for penalties. If you delay beyond three months without justification, your contract will be terminated — no excuses.”
Agbodza added that 24/7 work schedules will be required, and professional indemnity clauses will be embedded in all agreements to hold contractors accountable for any infrastructure failures.
“If the road fails, we will trigger the indemnity and recover funds to fix it,” he warned. “This is a clear message: deliver quality or face the consequences.”
The Minister also issued a caution to consultants, saying poor supervision will no longer be tolerated.
