Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has cast doubt on the previous government’s claim of constructing over 10,000 kilometers of roads during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s tenure.
Speaking to journalists at the Government Accountability Series in Accra on July 30, Agbodza revealed that a nationwide inspection soon after taking office showed a stark difference between the official claims and the actual state of roads.
“After assuming office, I toured the country and could not find the over 10,000 kilometers of roads the former administration claimed to have built,” he stated. “Not even 1,000 kilometers of good roads were visible.”
His comments fuel ongoing debates about the quality and extent of road infrastructure developed under the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, highlighting calls for an independent audit of these claims.
