Appointees to Lose 4 Months’ Salary Over Asset Declaration Failures – Mahama
Defaulters to lose four months’ salary as Mahama pushes for greater transparency and accountability
- Appointees who missed the March 31 asset declaration deadline will forfeit 4 months' salary
- Funds will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund
- Officials who fail to comply by May 7, 2025, will be dismissed from office
President John Dramani Mahama has cracked the whip on political appointees who failed to meet the March 31, 2025, deadline for mandatory asset declaration.
Citing a report from the Auditor General, Mahama revealed that several officials under his administration did not comply with the directive he issued on February 18.
As a penalty, defaulters will forfeit three months of their salaries, which will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, dubbed “Mahama Cares.” This is in addition to a previously mandated one-month salary donation from all appointees, effectively docking four months of pay from non-compliant individuals.
Mahama also issued a stern warning: appointees who have still not declared their assets by May 7, 2025, will be removed from office.
