2027 AFCONQ: Mohammed Kudus Returns as Carlos Queiroz Names 24-Man Black Stars Squad

Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has recalled Mohammed Kudus and handed maiden Black Stars call-ups to Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
Kudus makes his return to the national team after missing Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign through injury, while SV Elversberg defender Gyamerah and New York Red Bulls midfielder Donkor have earned their first senior international selections.
The 24-man squad is largely made up of players who featured for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare retains his place alongside Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
France-based defender Nathaniel Adjei has also returned to the squad after nearly a year away from the national team, following a strong start to the season with Lorient in Ligue 1.
Brighton winger Ibrahim Osman and Sassuolo midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana have also been included as the Black Stars prepare to begin their AFCON qualifying campaign.
Ghana will open their Group C campaign away against Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, September 24, before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29.
Queiroz’s side will then face Morocco in a friendly on Sunday, October 4, as preparations continue for the remaining AFCON qualifiers.
The Black Stars are seeking to secure qualification for the 2027 AFCON after missing out on the 2025 tournament.
