The family head of the late General Constable Redeemer Kofi Owusu has appealed to authorities to ensure justice is served following the alleged lynching of the 32-year-old police officer at Gindabour in the Savannah Region.
Constable Owusu was allegedly lynched by a mob at his duty post in Gindabour in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District following a confrontation between residents and the police.
The incident has left the deceased officer’s family devastated, with the family head calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Speaking in an interview, Nana Sekyere Nkwantabisa III, Ahafo Mmem Sekyere Krom Hene, described the incident as tragic and urged the authorities to ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.
He stressed the need for a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts surrounding the incident and ensure that those found culpable face the full force of the law.
The appeal comes as authorities work to restore calm and ensure the safety of residents in the area.
Savannah Regional Minister Salisu Be-Awuribe earlier told Adom News that authorities were working urgently to restore safety and order in the area.
The death of the police officer has also renewed concerns about the safety of security personnel and the need for accountability following confrontations between law enforcement officers and residents.
The family is now seeking answers and justice as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Constable Owusu’s death continue.
