The Secretary of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), Dominic Buah, has issued a firm warning to illegal miners, urging them to refrain from engaging in violent confrontations with members of the anti-galamsey task force.

His caution comes as authorities intensify efforts to curb illegal mining activities, widely known as galamsey, which continue to threaten the environment and national security across Ghana.

Operations led by NAIMOS have recently faced resistance in some mining communities, raising serious concerns about the safety of personnel deployed to enforce the law.

Addressing an editors’ forum on Wednesday, March 25, Colonel Buah made it clear that the task force will not tolerate any form of armed aggression from illegal miners.

He emphasized that operatives are highly trained and properly equipped to defend themselves if attacked, signaling a tougher approach in the fight against illegal mining.

Buah warned that any attempt by illegal miners to use weapons against the task force would be met with a strong and decisive response, stressing that the team has the right to protect itself in the line of duty.
