(VIDEO) Repeal GH¢1 Energy Sector Levy Now — Minority
Minority demands urgent action as fuel prices rise and concerns grow over prepaid electricity charges

The Minority in Parliament has called on the government to urgently repeal the GH¢1 energy sector levy imposed on petroleum products, citing rising fuel prices and the growing burden on Ghanaians.
The appeal was made by the Deputy Ranking Member on the Mines and Energy Committee and Member of Parliament for Afigya-Kwabre North, Collins Adomako-Mensah. He urged the government to take immediate steps to withdraw the levy and provide relief to consumers.
According to him, the introduction of the levy has worsened the impact of increasing fuel prices, making it more difficult for citizens to cope with the current economic conditions.
In addition, he called on the Minister for Energy, Dr. John Jinapor, to make public the findings of a committee set up to investigate complaints about electricity prepaid meters allegedly consuming credit at an unusually fast rate.
The Minority insists that transparency and swift action on both issues are necessary to restore public confidence and ease the financial pressure on households.
