Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh celebrated Easter this year by visiting inmates and residents at the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, Kumasi Cheshire Home, and Kumasi Children’s Home, continuing a longstanding tradition of giving he has maintained for the past 20 years.
This marks one of three annual visits he makes to these facilities, reinforcing his commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in the community.
During his visits, Dr. Prempeh presented a range of food items, including bags of rice, boxes of sardines, gallons of cooking oil, bags of maize, sugar, and gari, ensuring that the homes were well-stocked to cater to the needs of residents.

The gesture, he explained, is motivated by his faith and sense of responsibility as a Christian to help the less fortunate.
Speaking to Lawson Media, Dr. Prempeh said, “It is our duty as Ghanaians and as Christians to see to the welfare of those in need. Helping the needy brings blessings not just to the recipients, but also to those who give. This has been my tradition for the past 20 years, and I will continue to prioritise such acts of benevolence.”

He emphasised that the initiative is not a one-time gesture but part of a sustained effort to improve the lives of disadvantaged members of society.

Dr. Prempeh expressed hope that his visits and donations will inspire others in the community to extend similar support to vulnerable groups, particularly during festive periods like Easter, when the spirit of giving is celebrated.
Officials at the homes, including Harriet Osei-Owusu and Mabel Pinamang Boamah, commended Dr. Prempeh for his generosity, noting the positive impact his support has had on the residents’ wellbeing.

They highlighted that consistent contributions over the years have helped improve living conditions, provided comfort, and strengthened the morale of both staff and residents.

Dr. Prempeh concluded his visit by wishing the residents good health, long life, and God’s blessings, reaffirming his pledge to continue his charitable work and ensure that the welfare of the needy remains a priority.
