Two Pupils Dead, 40 Injured in Assin Homaho School Bus Accident

Two pupils of Alice Elites Academy at Assin Edubiase in the Assin South District of the Central Region have died, while more than 40 others were injured in a school bus accident on the Assin Homaho road.
The deceased, a boy and a girl, were among pupils travelling on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus when the tragic incident occurred.
The Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, DSP Wonder Lumor, confirmed the incident to Adom News, indicating that a total of 40 children were involved in the crash.
According to him, the injured pupils were quickly transported to nearby health facilities for treatment, with 22 taken to St. Francis Xavier Hospital and 18 sent to the Assin Edubiase Health Centre.
He later confirmed that all 40 injured children received medical attention and have since been discharged to reunite with their families.
Authorities have since launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident on the Assin Homaho stretch.
The tragedy has thrown the Assin Edubiase community into mourning, as families and school authorities grieve the loss of the two pupils and the trauma experienced by the survivors.
