15 Dead, 25 Injured in Peki-Tsame Road Accident

At least 15 people have died and 25 others sustained injuries following a tragic road accident at Peki-Tsame in the Volta Region.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, near Peki Senior High School when a Mercedes-Benz container truck travelling from Nkwanta to Accra collided head-on with a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus heading from Battor to Kabiti in the Oti Region.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a total of 40 passengers were involved in the crash, comprising 21 males, 15 females, and four children.
Personnel from the Peki Fire Station quickly responded to the scene and conducted rescue operations to extricate victims trapped in the mangled vehicles.
The GNFS confirmed that 25 injured persons—23 adults and two children—were rushed to the Peki Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The deceased included nine males and six females. Their bodies were handed over to the police and transported to the hospital morgue for preservation and further investigations.
Authorities are yet to determine the exact cause of the crash, with investigations currently underway.
Meanwhile, the GNFS has extended condolences to the bereaved families and urged motorists to observe road safety regulations, avoid reckless driving, and exercise maximum caution to reduce road accidents across the country.
