Two Arrested Over Alleged Narcotics Trafficking At Kasoa

Kasoa, September 28, 2026 — The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two people for allegedly possessing and trafficking substances suspected to be narcotic drugs at Kasoa.
The suspects, identified as Asando Asakiba and Beatrice Amegashie, were arrested following separate operations by the police.
According to the Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Nchor, the first suspect, Asando Asakiba, was arrested on September 20, 2026, after police intercepted a Voxy minibus at the Kasoa High Tension snap-check point at about 2:30 a.m.
A search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs in Asakiba’s possession.
DCOP Nchor said during interrogation, Asakiba identified Beatrice Amegashie, a resident of Ayikai Dobro near Amasaman, as the alleged owner of the substances. He reportedly told investigators that the items were intended for delivery to a person identified only as Akos in Tarkwa.
Police subsequently searched Amegashie’s residence, where they allegedly discovered additional substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
The items retrieved from the suspects included six yellow sellotaped parcels containing dried leaves labelled “Green Gold,” two transparent zip-lock bags containing dried leaves, and another zip-lock bag containing a whitish substance.
The two suspects are currently in police custody after being remanded by the court.
Police investigations are continuing to establish the nature and source of the substances and the circumstances surrounding their alleged trafficking.
