Prophet Emmanuel Worlasi of the Christian Community International (CCI) Church in Kumasi has called on former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Chief Executive, Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, to reconsider his reported bid for the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the clergyman, Dr. Kokofu risks suffering a major political setback if he proceeds with his ambition to contest the position. Prophet Worlasi claimed that his warning is based on spiritual insight and urged the former MP to withdraw from the race to avoid what he described as “political disgrace” and “political suicide.”

Speaking during a church gathering and later reiterating his views on social media, the prophet maintained that the Ashanti Regional NPP chairmanship position has been divinely destined for former regional chairman, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA.

Prophet Worlasi asserted that Odeneho Kwaku Appiah’s return to the leadership of the party in the Ashanti Region would usher in renewed unity, grassroots mobilisation, and electoral success for the NPP. He claimed that the former chairman possesses the experience, political network, and leadership qualities required to rebuild the party ahead of future national elections.

“The reign of Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah will produce results because he is destined for the position,” the prophet stated.

The Ashanti Region remains the electoral stronghold of the NPP and is expected to play a critical role in the party’s efforts to reorganise and strengthen its structures following recent political developments. As a result, the race for the regional chairmanship is attracting significant attention from party members and political observers.

While prophecies have often featured in Ghana’s political discourse, party delegates ultimately retain the responsibility of choosing their leaders through democratic processes. Neither Dr. Kokofu nor Odeneho Kwaku Appiah has publicly responded to the prophet’s comments.

Political analysts believe the contest for the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship could have far-reaching implications for the future direction of the NPP in one of its most influential regions.

As campaigning and consultations continue, party members are expected to weigh the experience, vision, and leadership credentials of the various contenders before making their decision.
