“Ofori-Atta Running from Accountability” – Inusah Fuseini

Former Tamale Central MP Inusah Fuseini has accused ex-Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta of evading accountability amid ongoing efforts to extradite him from the United States.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has been attempting to bring Ofori-Atta back to Ghana to face prosecution, but the former minister has cited medical treatment abroad as the reason for his absence.
During an X Space Q&A session on Sunday, November 23, Fuseini challenged Ofori-Atta to return home if he is confident in his innocence.
“Ofori-Atta is avoiding accountability and the law. If he has nothing to hide, why doesn’t he come back to Ghana? This situation is of his own making,” Fuseini stated.
He also dismissed criticisms that the OSP should have stopped Ofori-Atta from leaving the country.
“How could the OSP prevent Ken Ofori-Atta from traveling after he had permission from the then Chief of Staff [Frema Osei-Opare] to seek medical care when he was assisting, not under investigation? Blaming the OSP is unfair,” he added.
Meanwhile, the OSP has confirmed that Ofori-Atta and seven others are set to be arraigned on Monday, November 24, over alleged involvement in the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) revenue assurance contracts. Ofori-Atta faces 78 charges related to the controversial agreements between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited.
