Story Highlights
  • Lawyer Maurice Ampaw claims Richard Nii Armah Quaye spends GHS 3 billion monthly on side relationships
  • The allegations come amid the ongoing divorce case, where Ms. Joana Quaye was awarded GH₵300,000 and minimal monthly support
  • Ms. Quaye is appealing the ruling, seeking equitable distribution of marital assets

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, Founder of the Legal Advocacy Foundation, has made startling allegations about Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, claiming that he spends GHS 3 billion a month on side relationships.

The comments were made during an interview on the Lawson TV Ghana Se Sen Show on Thursday, April 2026, with Kwame Tanko, in the context of ongoing divorce proceedings with his wife, Ms. Joana Quaye.

Lawyer Ampaw, who has been publicly commenting on the high-profile divorce case, described Nii Armah as a “showboy” with little regard for financial responsibility in his personal life. “He spends billions monthly on side chicks, yet expects to keep marital assets for himself,” Ampaw alleged.

Lawyer Ampaw also criticized the original ruling in the divorce case, which granted Ms. Quaye only GH₵300,000 as financial provision and GH₵5,000 monthly for the care of their three children, describing it as “unfair, unjust, and does not add up.”

He emphasized that Ms. Quaye contributed significantly to her husband’s wealth over their 16-year marriage.

“Ms. Quaye sacrificed a lot, helped build his businesses, and took care of their children. Yet the court awarded her a mere fraction of what she deserves,” Lawyer Ampaw said.

He added that the case highlights broader concerns about transparency and fairness in high-profile divorce rulings.

The divorce case, which has attracted widespread public attention, is now set to proceed to the Supreme Court, with Ms. Quaye seeking to overturn the original ruling and secure what she considers a fair share of marital assets, including properties in Trasacco Estate, East Legon, and luxury vehicles acquired during the marriage.
