European champions Paris Saint-Germain have signed Spain forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona on a contract running until 2031.

The 26-year-old joins the French champions for a reported fee of around €50 million (£42.7 million), strengthening PSG’s attacking options ahead of the new season.

Torres was instrumental in Spain’s World Cup triumph last month, scoring the extra-time winner against Argentina to secure the country’s second men’s World Cup title.

His impressive form extended to club football, where he enjoyed a productive campaign with Barcelona. He scored 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions and provided three assists as the Catalan club secured the La Liga title.

Reunion with Luis Enrique

Torres will now work under PSG manager Luis Enrique, who previously coached and played for Barcelona.

PSG have dominated European football in recent seasons, winning the Champions League in each of the past two campaigns. The club also added another trophy to its collection on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup.

Torres becomes the second major attacking signing for PSG this summer following the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco.

Torres’ Career

Torres joined Barcelona in 2022 after spending two seasons with Manchester City.

He has established himself as an important member of the Spanish national team, scoring 25 goals in 65 appearances. He made his international debut under Enrique.

His arrival at PSG comes amid uncertainty over the future of another forward, Bradley Barcola, who has reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool.

The signing gives PSG another proven attacking option as the club looks to maintain its dominance domestically and compete for further European honours.
