The Ghana Police Service in the Northern Region has successfully rescued a kidnapping victim in Wapuli, under the Yendi Division, after a swift and intelligence-driven operation.
A situation report from the region indicates that the case was first reported to the Tamale Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (TRPID) on December 2, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m. The kidnappers had demanded GH₵100,000 from the victim’s family as ransom.

Upon receiving the report, the Northern Regional Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, deployed a five-member intelligence team from the Tamale RPID to Wapuli to conduct surveillance and execute the rescue mission.
The team successfully rescued the victim on December 5.

In the early hours of December 6, at around 12:30 a.m., officers engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gunfire exchange. The suspects escaped, abandoning a motorbike with registration M 25 NR and a Samsung mobile phone, which were retrieved as exhibits.

Later that morning, three suspects were arrested at Bokpaba along the Bimbila–Yendi highway. They have been identified as Haruna Seidu (31), Amidu Bandi (30), and Osman Bandi (40).

Police also recovered GH₵70,000, believed to be part of the ransom payment, along with two motorbikes. One suspect remains on the run.

According to the report, the fugitive suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and the intelligence team is actively working to track him down. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
