Four field officers of Bills Micro-Credit Limited have been taken into custody by the Ghana Police Service following a widely circulated video showing a dispute with a woman at Ashongman Estate.

The footage, which went viral on social media, showed company officials confronting a woman carrying a baby over an alleged failure to repay a GH¢300 loan. At one point, an officer is seen taking her phone, causing her to fall while trying to retrieve it.

Bills Micro-Credit had previously announced the suspension of the officers and handed them over to the police for further investigation.

According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the Kwabenya District Police began probing an alleged assault reported on March 13 by 42-year-old Hagar Emaser. She claimed that four men from the company visited her home to demand repayment and physically assaulted her during the encounter.

The arrested officers have been identified as Denis Wornyo (38), Albert Amarh (40), Ebenezer Amartei (23), and Atsu Lawson (27). They were detained on Sunday, March 15, and are currently assisting police with ongoing investigations.

In a separate statement, Bills Micro-Credit reiterated that the officials shown in the video were suspended following a board directive, and the company condemned the incident while conducting internal inquiries to determine the full circumstances of the confrontation.

The Accra Regional Police Command urged victims of assault and other crimes to report incidents promptly and advised individuals with disputes over loans or other civil matters to seek legal and peaceful resolutions.
