Briefing the media at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
According to her, the victim was travelling on July 21, 2025, when he was attacked by six armed robbers who made away with mobile phones, cash, wristwatches, reading glasses, laptops, and other personal items.
COP Donkor further disclosed that in a separate intelligence-led operation, five additional suspects linked to another highway robbery at Nkasei in the Ahafo Region were arrested on January 16, 2026.
The suspects — Muta Kofi, Mahamadu Sajoe (alias Salifu), Shaibu Issah, Abdul Suleman, and Bukari Sule (alias Taylor) — were arrested on different days in connection with the attack.
She explained that on December 2, 2025, the suspects, together with other accomplices, allegedly blocked the Goaso–Tepa road while armed, robbing road users of their belongings.
The CID Director-General urged the public to remain vigilant, prioritize personal safety, and avoid sharing sensitive information with strangers, as the Police Service intensifies efforts to combat highway robberies and other criminal activities nationwide.
