Over 1,600 Parcels of Suspected Narcotics Seized in Oti Region Operations

Oti Regional Police seize 1,696 parcels of suspected narcotics in three separate operations, arrest seven suspects

The Oti Regional Police Command has arrested seven suspects following three intelligence-led operations that led to the seizure of 1,696 compressed parcels of substances suspected to be narcotics, the Police Public Affairs Unit has announced.

The first operation occurred on 13 February 2026 around 11:15 p.m., when a Hyundai Atos taxi (registration VR 188-16) was intercepted on the Lekanti-Kute road. Officers recovered 48 compressed parcels suspected to be Indian hemp. The driver, Emmanuel Yao, 40, and a passenger, Felix Emulator, 37, were arrested at the scene.

The second operation, on 14 February 2026 at around 12:45 a.m., targeted a house in Tsikata, a suburb of Ahamansu, following intelligence on narcotics packaging for cross-border smuggling. Police recovered 166 compressed parcels concealed in three bags and three sacks. Three suspects were arrested; a fourth, Korsi Akpavi, escaped and remains at large.

The third operation took place on 15 February 2026 at Bodada, where a Benz Cargo Truck (registration GS 3831-09) was intercepted. Driven by Amrado Justice Nelson, 50, with Onaneye Yussif, 25, onboard, the vehicle had specially modified compartments under the floor containing 1,482 compressed parcels suspected to be Indian hemp.

All seven suspects are in police custody assisting with investigations. The seized substances and vehicles have been retained. Deputy Superintendent John Nchor confirmed ongoing efforts to apprehend the fugitive suspect and urged the public to continue providing information to support crime prevention.
