Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of failing Ghanaians, citing concerns over the rising cost of electricity and water tariffs.

Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Congress and Officers’ Elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, Chairman Odeneho said the high utility tariffs were placing additional pressure on households and businesses.

According to him, the concerns being expressed by Ghanaians over electricity and water costs reflected dissatisfaction with the current administration.

Chairman Odeneho subsequently claimed that the NDC was heading towards opposition, while expressing confidence that the NPP would reorganise and return to government.

He said the NPP was emerging from its current period in opposition with renewed determination and would return “stronger than ever” to compete for political power.

His comments formed part of his broader call for NPP members to remain united, strengthen the party’s structures and focus on rebuilding ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman’s remarks come as the NPP holds its national executive elections, a process expected to shape the party’s organisational direction as it prepares for the next general election.
