Man Remanded Over Alleged Theft of Mattress, Appliances and Other Items at Awutu Chochoo
Police say the suspect was arrested after a truck loaded with household items allegedly stolen from a building at Chochoo was intercepted during a night patrol.

A man has been remanded into police custody over the alleged theft of household items from a building at Chochoo, near Bintrase, in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.
The suspect, identified as Mohammed Sulemana, was arrested after police intercepted a Kia Mighty truck loaded with suspected stolen items during a night patrol on September 26, 2026.
The truck, with registration number GN 5255-23, was carrying a king-size mattress, kitchen cabinet, deep freezer, microwave, stove, 19 sets of framed aluminium-glazed windows, nine sets of electrical sockets, a knapsack spraying machine, 10 TV sockets and two floodlights.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicated that the items had allegedly been stolen from a building at Chochoo.
One of the suspects, Patrick Haziel, reportedly told investigators that the items belonged to Mohammed Sulemana. He allegedly said Sulemana fled after spotting the approaching police patrol team and that he had only been contracted to transport the items from Awutu Bentum to Tuba, where Sulemana resides.
Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Nchor, said further investigations led to Sulemana’s arrest.
According to the police commander, Sulemana allegedly admitted stealing the items and hiding them at Bentum before engaging the driver to transport them.
Sulemana has since been remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear before the court on October 12, 2026.
