A man in the United States has been sentenced to prison after breaking into a vehicle and stealing hard drives containing unreleased music linked to global superstar Beyoncé.
The convicted thief, identified as Kelvin Evans, was handed a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to charges including entering an automobile and criminal trespass. He was also given an additional three years of probation.
The incident occurred on 8 July 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia, when Evans allegedly broke into a rented Jeep Wagoneer belonging to members of Beyoncé’s touring team during the early stages of her Cowboy Carter tour stop in the city.
According to court records, the victims—Beyoncé’s choreographer and a dancer—returned to find the vehicle’s rear window smashed and several items missing. These reportedly included laptops, luxury belongings, and hard drives containing unreleased music and sensitive material.
Investigators say surveillance footage showed a red Hyundai, driven by Evans, arriving near the parking area where the break-in occurred. Additional footage later captured him handling suitcases believed to be stolen from the vehicle.
Authorities were able to track some of the stolen laptops using location-tracking technology, which allegedly placed them at a separate apartment complex seen in the footage. However, the hard drives containing the unreleased music were never recovered.
Evans, who was described in court documents as a repeat offender, struck a plea deal shortly before his trial. His lawyer told the court he hoped for a chance to rebuild his life and reintegrate into society.
Prosecutors revealed that Evans had been in custody since his arrest in August 2025 and had initially pleaded not guilty before later accepting the deal.
As part of his sentence, he has been ordered to stay away from the victims and the location of the theft. The break-in occurred just days before Beyoncé began a four-night concert run in Atlanta.
