Mahama: Gov’t Committed to Restoring Peace in Bawku, Other Conflict-Prone Areas

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with the security services to restore and sustain peace in conflict-affected areas, including Bawku.

The President gave the assurance while commissioning Phase One of a 2,000-unit military barracks and unveiling a new fleet of vehicles for the Ghana Armed Forces at the West African Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA) 2025 event.

He reiterated the government’s determination to adequately resource the security services to enable them to protect lives and property while promoting lasting peace nationwide.

“Peace and security are the foundation of development,” President Mahama said, commending the Armed Forces for their professionalism and discipline in ongoing security operations.

He praised their restraint and adherence to high standards, noting that their conduct has contributed significantly to the relative calm currently being experienced in affected areas.

President Mahama assured that the government will continue to consolidate these gains by working closely with security agencies, traditional authorities, and local communities to ensure lasting peace in Bawku and other conflict-prone regions across the country.
