The Office of the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has confirmed that the lawmaker is doing well after he collapsed while delivering a speech at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Mr. Sosu was speaking about his personal experiences, leadership and commitment to public service when he suddenly appeared to lose consciousness on stage.
Moments before the incident, the MP told the audience: “I respectfully submit that if you want to be a good leader, let service be your hallmark.”
People at the event immediately rushed to assist him after he collapsed. Although he briefly appeared to regain consciousness and seemed prepared to continue his speech, he soon began to slump again.
He was subsequently helped off the stage and taken for medical attention.
In a statement issued later on Thursday, the MP’s office confirmed that he had received the necessary medical care and was doing well.
The office also acknowledged reports, videos and other content circulating on social media regarding the incident and urged the public to remain calm.
It cautioned against relying on unverified reports or speculation about the MP’s condition.
The office expressed appreciation to constituents, supporters and well-wishers for their concern, prayers and messages of support.
It added that any further updates would be communicated through the MP’s official channels when necessary.
