Popular fetish priest Nana Kwaku Bonsam says he has “released” England captain Harry Kane from a spell after the striker failed to score in England’s goalless World Cup draw with Ghana.

Kwaku Bonsam had earlier claimed before Tuesday’s Group L clash that he would spiritually prevent Kane from finding the back of the net. However, following the match, he appeared in a video on social media announcing that the supposed spell had now been lifted.

“Now I am going to release Harry Kane so that, his next match, he can score. Harry, I will come and visit you. Don’t be offended. We are friends,” he said.

Kane, who had scored twice in England’s 4-2 victory over Croatia in their opening game, was kept quiet by Ghana’s defence in Kansas City.

His closest opportunity came in stoppage time when he fired over from close range as England searched for a late winner that would have secured qualification to the knockout stage.

The England skipper, however, downplayed the missed chance, insisting he remains focused.

“I was waiting for an opportunity like that to fall my way. It did and I just couldn’t quite get over the ball. But I’ve been a striker long enough to know they don’t always go in,” he said.

Despite the draw, England remain in a strong position to advance, while Ghana earned a valuable point in a tightly contested encounter that also sparked unusual off-field headlines surrounding Kane.
