Police in Kumasi have arrested one suspect in connection with the murder of an Indian national, Devendra Singh, as investigations into the shocking incident intensify.

According to a statement from the Police Public Affairs Unit dated April 26, 2026, the suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries.

The victim had earlier been declared missing, triggering a search operation by police to trace his whereabouts.

A major breakthrough was recorded on April 25 at about 2:00 p.m. when police received intelligence that the victim’s vehicle had been located on the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom, near the Royal Lemosy Hospital. Officers who arrived at the scene found the car parked by the roadside.

A search of the vehicle later led to the discovery of Devendra Singh’s lifeless body in the boot, bearing multiple stab wounds.

The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene, after which the body was transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. The vehicle has also been impounded as part of ongoing investigations.

In response, the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special team of intelligence and homicide investigators to assist the Ashanti Regional Police Command in unraveling the case.

Police say efforts are underway to track down and arrest all individuals connected to the crime, while urging the public to provide any useful information.

Authorities have assured that justice will be pursued for the deceased.
