Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a disruption in water supply to parts of Kumasi and surrounding areas following a blast at the high-lift section of the Barekese Water Treatment Plant.

In a statement released on Thursday, December 11, GWL said the explosion damaged one of the three operational pumps, leading to reduced water flow and pressure across the network. Engineers are working around the clock to repair the affected pump and restore normal distribution levels.

Until full restoration is achieved, the technical team is managing and rationing the available water to maintain stable pressure for consumers.

“We understand the importance of a reliable water supply and are committed to resolving this issue as quickly as possible,” the statement said. GWL also apologised for the inconvenience and thanked the public for their patience.
