Klopp shuts down Real Madrid rumors while hinting at a possible future return to coaching
- Jurgen Klopp dismisses links to Real Madrid, confirming no contact has been made.
- The former Liverpool FC boss says he is not planning a return to coaching anytime soon, but hasn’t ruled it out.
- Klopp reiterates he will never manage another English club aside from Liverpool.
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has brushed off rumors linking him with a move to Real Madrid, describing the speculation as “nonsense.”
The 58-year-old, who stepped down from Liverpool FC at the end of the 2023–24 season, insists there has been no contact from the Spanish giants. Reports had suggested he could replace Alvaro Arbeloa this summer, but Klopp firmly denied any discussions.
Speaking in Munich, Klopp said neither he nor his agent had received any approach from Real Madrid. For now, he is focused on his current role as Head of Global Football at Red Bull and is not actively considering a return to the dugout.
However, Klopp made it clear that retirement is not yet on the horizon. While he is not planning an immediate comeback, he acknowledged that a return to coaching in the future remains possible.
Klopp left Liverpool earlier than expected, despite having a contract until 2026, citing fatigue and a need to step away from the pressures of management. During his highly successful tenure, he led the club to major honors, including the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and their first Premier League title in 30 years the following season. He also secured the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Despite leaving the door open for a future return, Klopp reaffirmed one firm stance—he will never manage another English club apart from Liverpool.
Before his time in England, Klopp built his reputation in Germany with Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund, where he won back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012.
