IGP Reshuffles Top Police Command in Major Leadership Changes

Senior Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners reassigned in move to boost efficiency within the Ghana Police Service

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has announced a major reshuffle of senior officers within the Ghana Police Service, with immediate effect.

The changes, contained in an official posting, affect several Commissioners of Police (COPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs), and are aimed at strengthening leadership, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving service delivery across the Service.

Under the new arrangements, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba moves from Director-General of Technology to Director-General of the National Anti-Professionalism and Corruption Directorate (NAPD), while COP Iddi Lansah Seidu shifts from Director-General of Welfare to Director-General of Technology.

COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba has been reassigned from Director-General of Operations to Director-General of Research and Planning, as COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe moves from the Professional Policing Standards Bureau (PPSB) to take over as Director-General of Operations.
Meanwhile, DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey transitions from Research and Planning to PPSB, and DCOP Eric Ken Winful moves from NAPD to Welfare.

The reshuffle also affects regional and technical commands. DCOP Charles K. Adu has been appointed Regional Commander of the Eastern Sector (ESR), while DCOP Isaac Asante moves from the Eastern Region to the National Headquarters.
DCOP George B. Ohene Boadi takes over as Regional Commander of the Central Region, and DCOP George Ankomah moves from Central MTTD/AR to become Regional Commander of the Eastern North Region (ENR).
In addition, DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo, formerly Director of ICT at the National Headquarters, is now in charge of Central MTTD/AR.

According to the IGP, the postings form part of ongoing reforms to reposition the Police Service for greater efficiency, professionalism, and effective policing nationwide.
