Haaland Strike Revives Manchester City’s Title Charge After Win Over Arsenal
City close gap on Arsenal as Haaland’s winner intensifies Premier League title race

- Erling Haaland scores winner in 2-1 victory over Arsenal
- City move within three points of leaders with a game in hand
- Rayan Cherki and Kai Havertz also on target in thrilling clash
Erling Haaland proved the difference as Manchester City secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, reigniting the Premier League title race.
The Norwegian forward netted the decisive goal in the second half, bringing City within three points of league leaders Arsenal, while still holding a crucial game in hand.
City made a bright start and took the lead in the 16th minute through Rayan Cherki. The French midfielder produced a moment of brilliance, gliding past multiple defenders before calmly slotting the ball home to give the hosts an early advantage.
Arsenal, however, responded almost immediately. Just under two minutes later, Kai Havertz capitalised on a costly error by City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose clearance ricocheted into the net to hand the visitors a quick equaliser.
The game remained open and fiercely contested, with both sides creating chances. Haaland struck the post early in the second half, while Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze also came close with an effort that hit the woodwork.
Donnarumma later redeemed himself with a crucial save to deny Havertz during a dangerous spell for Arsenal.
The decisive moment arrived in the 65th minute when Haaland reacted quickest inside the box to finish from close range, restoring City’s lead.
Arsenal pushed hard for another equaliser, with Gabriel Magalhães seeing a header deflected onto the post, but City held firm to secure all three points.
The win marks another important result for Pep Guardiola’s side, who have now beaten Arsenal twice within a month, following their Carabao Cup final triumph.
While the defeat is a setback for Arsenal, their title hopes remain alive as the season heads into its final stretch.
With the gap at the top narrowing and momentum shifting, the Premier League title race is now finely balanced, setting up a dramatic finish to the campaign.
