The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) celebrated its 50th anniversary in grand style on Saturday, November 29, 2025, hosting a warm and vibrant Golden Jubilee Soirée at the Labadi Beach Hotel.

The event drew government officials, traditional leaders, industry veterans, creatives, and music lovers to honour five decades of musical contribution and to envision a dynamic future for Ghana’s creative sector.

Delivering an address on behalf of the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration) Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo praised MUSIGA’s enduring legacy and reiterated government’s renewed commitment to advancing the creative economy.

She emphasized that Ghana’s music industry continues to serve as a strong driver of tourism, national pride, and employment—playing a vital role in boosting the nation’s GDP and global cultural presence.

Hon. Bampoe Addo outlined several ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening the sector, including the GHS 20 million Creative Arts Fund, enhanced copyright protections, and new collaborations with digital platforms to better support creators. She encouraged industry stakeholders to embrace emerging opportunities in technology, artificial intelligence, digital distribution, and international partnerships, stressing that “this is the time for Ghana to take its rightful place on the global creative stage.”

The soirée featured captivating performances from acclaimed Ghanaian musicians, a special tribute to highlife legends, and the official launch and auction of the MUSIGA@50 Commemorative Book. The Union also recognized distinguished individuals whose work has significantly shaped Ghana’s music landscape over the past half-century.

MUSIGA President Bessa Simons expressed deep appreciation to the Union’s members, partners, and trailblazers, reaffirming MUSIGA’s dedication to nurturing talent and strengthening the country’s creative future.

The Golden Jubilee celebration ended with a resounding call for unity—celebrating the achievements of the past 50 years, inspiring the present, and building a vibrant creative industry for generations to come.
