The Ghana National Association of Teachers (Madina Adenta Abokobi Secretariat) has strongly condemned a violent attack on teachers at West Africa Senior High School, insisting on zero tolerance for assaults against educators.
The incident occurred on Friday, 13 February 2026, during school hours, when male students allegedly from Frafraha Community Senior High School were found in a WASS classroom with female students, violating school rules on unauthorized campus access.
While most teachers were engaged in activities marking WASS’s 80th anniversary, a small team led by Nicholas Teye confronted the intruders, ordering them to leave. Initial verbal exchanges escalated, but the group left the campus.
Later that afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., the group reportedly returned with additional accomplices on motorbikes and launched a violent attack. Mr Teye was severely injured, and other teachers were also assaulted before staff managed to repel the attackers.
The matter has been reported to the police, and GNAT is demanding swift investigations and prosecution of those responsible. Teachers in the district have been directed to wear red armbands in protest, while GNAT urges the Ghana Education Service and community leaders to act promptly to curb violence against educators.
GNAT reaffirmed that it remains on red alert, committed to seeking justice for its members while advising calm among teachers.
