The Ghana Education Service has ordered students to stay away from the Accra New Town Experimental D/A School following the collapse of one of its buildings, which claimed three lives and left 20 people seriously injured.
Speaking in an interview on Monday, March 30, 2026, after a briefing with security officials at the school, GES Director-General Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis stated that an emergency meeting will be held to determine the next steps.
Students have been instructed not to return until the school environment is deemed safe.
“We will work closely with regional and national teams, including the estate department, to confirm that other structures are safe for use. If they are not, we will advise students to avoid them,” Prof. Davis explained.
The incident has intensified concerns about the safety of school infrastructure in the region, prompting urgent inspections to prevent future tragedies.
