Less than 24 hours after a major fire gutted Sofoline Magazine, the Kumasi Metropolis has been hit by yet another blaze, intensifying concerns over fire safety in busy commercial areas.

The latest fire broke out on Monday night around 10:00 pm at the Anwona Market near Afful Nkwanta, where several shops and their contents were completely destroyed.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service were promptly dispatched to the scene and managed to bring the inferno under control, stopping it from spreading to nearby buildings and properties.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, eyewitnesses indicated that it may have originated from a section of the market operating as a footwear manufacturing area.

No injuries or deaths have been recorded, but traders have reportedly suffered heavy losses as merchandise and equipment were consumed by the flames.

The Ghana National Fire Service has launched investigations into the incident as officials once again urge traders and market operators to strengthen fire prevention and safety practices in commercial centres.
