Francis Adomako Pledges Grassroots-Centred Leadership in Bid for NPP Ashanti Regional Secretary

Dr Francis Adomako, a former Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to transform the Ashanti Regional Secretariat into a more effective and responsive structure if elected as the party’s next Regional Secretary.

Speaking in an interview with Kwame Tanko on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, Dr Adomako said his decision to contest was driven by his desire to strengthen the party at the grassroots and ensure that members across the region benefit from the party’s structures and resources.

He said he has remained faithful and committed to the NPP over the years, stressing that his track record as Regional Organiser demonstrates his dedication to the party and its members.

Supporting Constituency Executives

According to Dr Adomako, he has consistently supported constituency executives financially, providing them with money every year to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities.

He said his support goes beyond financial assistance, explaining that he has also collected data annually to help party members secure admission opportunities for their wards.

He noted that these interventions have been carried out across all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region, demonstrating his commitment to reaching members beyond his immediate political circles.

‘The Regional Secretary Is the Engine of the Party’

Dr Adomako described the position of Regional Secretary as one of the most important positions within the party’s regional structure.

He said the role requires a person with extensive experience, a strong grassroots connection and a deep understanding of the party’s operations.

“The Regional Secretary is the engine,” he said, stressing that the office must serve as an effective intermediary between the national leadership and grassroots members.

He pledged to establish a system where every constituency secretary would be equipped with a laptop to enable them to prepare and submit regular reports.

According to him, the information gathered from the constituencies would help the regional secretariat communicate accurate and timely reports to the national leadership and improve decision-making.

‘I Want to Make an Impact’

Dr Adomako said he would not seek the position simply to occupy an office but to make a meaningful impact on the party.

He promised to introduce what he described as “frantic measures” to reclaim constituencies that have become difficult for the NPP, particularly constituencies he referred to as “orphan constituencies.”

He said his focus would be on rebuilding the party’s structures, strengthening grassroots engagement and restoring confidence among members in areas where the party has struggled electorally.

‘They Say I Don’t Need to Campaign’

Reflecting on his campaign tour across the region, Dr Adomako said some party members have told him that he does not need to campaign extensively because they are already familiar with his record.

He cited his support for members, including helping with admission opportunities for their children, attending party events even when he was not formally invited, and assisting members to resolve challenges as some of the contributions that have earned him goodwill.

He described himself as an executive who has consistently remained accessible to party members.

“I have sat with the party people morning, afternoon and evening, whether rain or shine,” he said.

According to him, his humility, affable nature and empathy have helped him build strong relationships with party members across the region.

‘God Makes a King, But Delegates Will Decide’

Dr Adomako acknowledged that leadership ultimately comes from God but stressed that the delegates hold the power to determine who becomes the next Ashanti Regional Secretary.

“It is God who makes a king, but the delegates have spoken, saying they will vote for me,” he said confidently.

He expressed optimism about his chances and urged delegates to consider his experience, grassroots engagement and proven record of service when making their choice.

Dr Francis Adomako said his ambition is to build an Ashanti Regional Secretariat that listens to constituency executives, responds to grassroots concerns and provides the national leadership with reliable information from the field.
