Firefighters Avert Major Disaster After LPG Tanker Catches Fire on Accra Motorway

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully brought under control a fire that engulfed a 50,000-litre LPG tanker on the Accra Motorway.
The incident occurred last night, prompting a swift response from firefighters who worked to contain the blaze and prevent what could have been a major disaster.
Although the fire has been brought under control, the Accra-bound section of the motorway from the Action Chapel area towards Accra Mall was temporarily blocked as emergency teams worked to remove the tanker from the road.
Reporting from the scene, ADO I Alex King Nartey said firefighters remained at the location to supervise the recovery operation and ensure the tanker was safely removed.
Road Safety Management Services Limited also deployed a recovery truck to tow the affected tanker from the motorway.
The prompt intervention by the GNFS helped avert a potentially serious incident involving the highly flammable LPG cargo.
