A fire outbreak has destroyed a six-bedroom self-contained house at Atekyem near Universal School in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

In a statement shared on Facebook, the GNFS said a fire crew led by Assistant Divisional Officer Grade I (ADO I) Sagoe responded swiftly and arrived at the scene at approximately 11:26 a.m.

Firefighters reportedly found the building heavily engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading rapidly from the roof section of the house.

The intense heat and thick smoke made firefighting operations challenging as officers worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

The fire was eventually brought under control at 12:21 p.m. and completely extinguished at 12:57 p.m. after sustained efforts by the emergency team.

Although the inferno caused extensive damage to the building and destroyed most household belongings, firefighters managed to salvage several items from the property.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded during the incident.

Following the fire outbreak, the GNFS urged the public to remain vigilant and observe fire safety precautions in homes and workplaces to help prevent similar incidents.
