Fanteakwa South DCE Mercy Korang Cuts Sod for Modern 24-Hour Economy Market at Osino

The District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa South, Hon. Mercy Korang, has cut sod for the construction of a modern 24-Hour Economy market at Osino in the Eastern Region.
According to her, the move is to provide decent infrastructure to enable traders to carry out their activities without hindrance.
The project, which aligns with government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy Policy, will feature a day care centre, restaurants, police and fire stations, a clinic, pharmacy, cold storage facilities, a lorry station, lockable shops, warehouses, offices for market management and a women’s development bank.
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will be executed by Atagiri Construction Limited.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Korang said the market is expected to stimulate economic activity, strengthen local commerce and improve the link between agricultural production and market access.
She said the project demonstrates government’s commitment to promoting local economic development, job creation and sustainable commercial growth, describing it as proof of government’s promise to traders in Fanteakwa South. She added that the day care centre will ease pressure on nursing mothers who are traders when completed.
She acknowledged the support of traditional leaders in advancing the initiative.
A presidential staffer, Hackman Kabore, speaking on behalf of the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, disclosed that the 24-Hour Economy Programme is part of wider efforts to strengthen Ghana’s economy by supporting agriculture, industry and local businesses, while improving infrastructure and developing skills.
The Minister also commended all who contributed to bringing the project to this stage and pledged continued government support.
The CEO of Atagiri Construction Limited, Usman Hudu, assured the chiefs and people of the area of quality work, citing his track record which won them the bid. He said the work will not go beyond 18 months and expressed hope that the President will commission the market before leaving office. He added that if necessary, they will work 24 hours to meet the deadline.
The Chief of Osino, Osabarima Otu Darko IV, commended government for the project, explaining that it will serve as a catalyst to boost local economic growth and drive the transformation agenda of the area. He pledged to personally supervise the project to ensure it meets construction specifications and urged the contractor to honour his pledge of quality and timely delivery.
