A deadly shooting in Denase, Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti Region, has left two people dead and three others injured, plunging the community into fear and unrest.

The incident occurred on Thursday night when unknown gunmen opened fire on occupants of a vehicle, with residents alleging it could be a contract killing. Eyewitnesses report hearing multiple gunshots—up to 14 rounds—during the attack.

Kwabena Asamoah, Unit Committee Chairman for the Denase Electoral Area, ruled out robbery as a motive, describing the assault as calculated and targeted.

The wounded victims are currently receiving care at Offinso Saint Patrick Hospital.

As police intensify investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice, fears over public safety continue to mount in the area—especially as the region grapples with another recent shooting in Asawase that left one man dead, days after the Kusasi Chief’s assassination.
