Residents of Kumasi can look forward to the long-delayed Krofrom Market project being completed and operational by the end of 2026, the government has confirmed.

The market, initially launched in 2007, was stalled for over a decade, raising concerns among traders and local residents.

Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi.

He revealed that a procurement alert has been issued, the project budget has been increased, and legal issues with the consultant are being resolved to allow work to resume.

“We have received a procurement alert, and the budget has been increased,” Mr. Agyemang Boadi said, expressing optimism about the project’s advancement.

On the stalled Kejetia Phase II project, he noted that delays were due to government indebtedness. The KMA chief stated that he is advocating for fund releases by March 2026 to restart work, with the goal of timely completion to benefit Kumasi residents.

“The government owes the contractor, and I hope that by March I will get the funds for the project to continue,” he added.
