The High Court in Accra has issued an interlocutory injunction preventing the planned “Celebration of Life” event for late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, originally set for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Independence Square and other venues.

The injunction followed a petition by Abusuapanin Victor Kofi Owusu, also known as Abusuapanin Tupac, Head of the Ekuona Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta.

According to a statement from Baba Jamal & Associates, the court order bars Nana Yaw Akosa (Papa Shee), Akosua Serwaa Schindler (Fosuh), Ernestina Fosuh (Brempoma), Wofa Yaw Poku, and their agents from organising, promoting, or hosting the event in any form.

The statement stressed that any attempt to proceed with the celebration will violate the court order and could lead to legal consequences, including contempt of court charges.

The law firm also warned that venue providers and participants must comply with the injunction and signaled readiness to take further action against any breaches.

The statement concluded with a call for peace and sensitivity, urging respect for Daddy Lumba’s family and children during this period.
