COKA Beats Kokofu 658–269 to Become NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman
COKA secures a decisive victory in the NPP Ashanti Regional chairmanship election, defeating Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu by 389 votes.

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has been elected the new New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman after defeating Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu in a decisive victory.
COKA secured 658 votes in the Saturday, August 15 regional election, while Dr Kokofu polled 269 votes, giving COKA a commanding 389-vote margin.
The victory gives COKA the mandate to lead the NPP’s regional structures in the Ashanti Region, one of the party’s most politically significant strongholds.
COKA went into the election with strong confidence, repeatedly expressing optimism about his chances. Ahead of the contest, he predicted that he would secure at least 90 percent of the votes, citing the support he believed he had among delegates across the region.
Although his final tally fell short of that prediction, his 658 votes were more than enough to secure a convincing victory over his main contender.
Dr Kokofu, a former Bantama MP and former Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), brought considerable political and administrative experience to the contest but managed 269 votes.
COKA’s victory now places him at the centre of the NPP’s regional affairs in Ashanti, where he will be expected to strengthen party unity, mobilise the grassroots and coordinate the party’s activities ahead of future political contests.
