CCBC Pastor Calls for Review of New Preaching Law
Rev. Dr Steve Paintsil says preaching in moving commercial vehicles helps spread the gospel and encourages positive change, urging authorities to reconsider the new restrictions.

- Says gospel brings positive change
The Senior Pastor of Central Charismatic Bible Church (CCBC), Rev. Dr Steve Paintsil, has called on authorities to review the new law restricting preaching and hawking in moving commercial vehicles.
According to him, while there are several ways of spreading the gospel, preaching in commercial vehicles has provided an opportunity for many people to hear the word of God and reflect on their lives.
Speaking to Lawson News after CCBC’s 30th anniversary celebration at Atonsu Gyinyase, Rev. Dr Paintsil said preaching in moving trotros and buses can have a positive impact on passengers by encouraging values such as forgiveness and behavioural change.

He therefore appealed to the authorities to reconsider the restriction and explore ways of regulating the practice without completely limiting the opportunity to preach to commuters.
The call comes amid provisions under the new road law that restrict certain activities, including preaching and hawking, in moving commercial vehicles.
Persons found engaging in such activities could face fines ranging from GH¢120 to GH¢600 or imprisonment of up to eight months, according to the provisions cited by the pastor.

Rev. Dr Paintsil maintained that the preaching of the gospel remains important in society, particularly in reaching people who may not ordinarily attend church.
He said there should be room for constructive dialogue on how the law can be implemented while preserving opportunities for religious messages to reach the public.
