A three-year-old boy, Christopher Amponsah, has died and ten others were injured after a swarm of bees attacked residents in Wawaase, a suburb of Agona Swedru in the Agona West Municipality of Ghana’s Central Region.

The attack occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, causing panic as residents scrambled to escape. Christopher was unable to get away and was severely stung, later succumbing to his injuries at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.

Paul K. Appleh, Deputy Director for Technical at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in Agona West, confirmed the incident to Adom News.

Emergency response teams, including NADMO personnel and the Ghana National Fire Service, were quickly dispatched to contain the situation.

Of the ten injured, six remain under medical care at the hospital, while four have been treated and discharged.

Mr. Appleh added that the area has been sprayed to prevent further attacks and assured the public that all injured victims are responding well to treatment.
