Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has commended former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for policies and social interventions implemented during their respective administrations.
Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Dr Bawumia said the programmes introduced under the two former presidents would remain significant parts of the NPP’s record in government.

He cited the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the School Feeding Programme and Free Maternal Care introduced under President Kufuor, as well as the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme introduced under President Akufo-Addo.
According to Dr Bawumia, the interventions have expanded access to healthcare and education and provided support to various groups across the country.
He urged NPP members to recognise and promote what he described as the party’s record of implementing policies aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
Dr Bawumia further called on members to remain united and draw inspiration from the legacies of the two former presidents as the party reorganises its structures.
He said the NPP’s experience in government provides a foundation upon which the party can build as it prepares for its future political activities.
